Welcome!

I have always enjoyed being crafty. I remember getting really excited about stickers and fun stationary when I was little. Well its good to know that some things in life never change!

I was introduced to scrapbooking in 2005 and have been hooked ever since. My love of crafting has branched out to include DIY, projects, gardening, baking, and canning. I hope to share my projects here.

Twilight Album and Scrabble Birthday Card

Hi all, I just wanted to say how much I love the Cricut Circle. There are some fantastically talented ladies there, and they are a constant source of ideas and inspiration.

Today I am sharing a couple of projects I have scrap-lifted from some circle friends.

The First project is a Twilight themed mini-album from Elizabeth at 217 Creations. As soon as I saw this project on Liz's blog, I knew I needed to make it for my BFF, who is a crazy Twilight fan.

Here is a link to Elizabeth's Blog: www.217creations.com. Click here to see Liz's Twilight Album and her gypsy files. While you are there, check out all her other fantastic projects! She is one super talented Lady!

So here is my version of the album. Its pretty much the same as Liz's except for a couple of the accents inside the album. I only added pics for the different accents. If you want to see the each page, visit 217 Creations and watch Liz's Video on her album.

I made this piece with some jewelry findings I picked up at Michael's on the clearance rack. I colored the top of the epoxy disc using alcohol Ink in Cranberry, and then I placed a Sticker on a white sheet of cardstock and adhered it to the reverse side of the epoxy disc and then glued it to the metal backing.
On this page, Liz made her own apple, but I found a coordinating box of chipboard elements on the clearance rack at JoAnn's so I used it instead. I added a little glimmer mist to the apple for some shimmer.
Here I used an actual piece of ribbon, as I didn't own the cartridges that Liz used for her ribbon accent. I just adhered the ribbon using Terrifically Tacky Tape.
Here I used I think Gypsy Font and one other font, I can't remember for the capital I. I then used some stickles to accent the letters I cut.

I also scraplifted the idea for her birthday card. She is a big scrabble fan, and I hate playing against her, as she knows all those ridiculous "scrabble words" that have been made up just so scrabble players can make two-lettered words using X and Q ! LOL anyhoo... I got this idea from Quiltfrog. She also has some wonderful stuff on her blog, so pop on over there and visit as well. Quiltfrog's Blog: Www.quiltfrog.blogspot.com. Click here to see her original card project
I made a change to her original design, as I took my scrabble board and scanned it and enlarged it so the tiles from Printing 101 cut at one inch would fit. I also added an inside sentiment.
My finished card size is 6" square.

I am happy to say that my BFF LOVED both the projects. So thanks Ladies for your inspirations!

These two projects are part of my July Cartridge challenge...sort of.. Well my challenge was to use Printing Press, and after i got my project all done I realized that the scrabble tiles were from Printing 101 NOT Printing Press. oops...lol

So...Printing Press went back into the jar to be pulled again another month. Sheesh, you'd think I'd double check my own challenge before embarking on a project. LOL I had one cartridge that I never got around to using in July, and that was Very Merry Tags. I hope to get to it soon.

Cricut Circle Pennant Contest - Illinois Pennant

Hi All! I am sharing today, my entry into the Cricut Circle Pennant Contest. The requirements for the contest are as follows:
a. Theme:

The pennant should be your representation of the state, providence or country of your choosing.

b. Pennant Size and Shape

The pennant shape is from the BIRTHDAY BASH CARTRIDGE. The ‘pennants’ that can be used are in the font section on pages 58-70. Please use a ‘fit to page’ for a 12×12 inch piece of paper.

Here is my pennant:
I chose to do a Route 66 theme. The cityscape was cut from Plantin Schoolbook. The Sears Tower and Illinois title were cut from Destinations. The Green Landscape, Corn, and Church were all cut from Pop-up Neighborhood. I hand cut the road.
The car and Route 66 sign were cut from Nifty Fifties. I cut the girl from Forever Young. I tied a single thread around her pony tail and used some embroidery floss as her scarf.
Here is a closeup of the corn. I cut two sets of corn then trimmed them down to fit in the space. I glued the bottom stems down, but pop-dotted the tops to give them some more dimension.

I used pop-dots on most layers to give the entire pennant more dimension.

It was quite a bit of work, but I am very happy with how it turned out. I hope Provo Craft enjoys it as well.

License Plate Game book

Hi All! Today I am sharing with you my entry into the Cricut Circle Blog's Monthly challenge which is something made for your car for road tripping.

Well my family road trips quite a bit. We are campers and have hauled our trailer to many different states. We have always played the license plate game, so I decided to make a book to use for our game rather than just printing out a new sheet every time we go on a road trip.
For the cover, I took some chipboard and cut it down to size, then adhered the patterned paper to both sides of the front cover. The back cover I left plain.

I used Summer Vacation for the road signs and the Road Trip phrase. I used my Gypsy and Plantin' Schoolbook to weld together the shadow layer of the title. I then cut the regular layer and layered it on top of the welded shadow layer. The paper on the cover was a little too busy for the title alone so I needed to layer the title onto a piece of solid cardstock. I used Ink and gel pens to give my cuts some added depth. The route 66 was added using alpha stickers from my stash.

The patterned paper came from a stack I picked up at Michael's. It's called U.S. travel paper pad by Paper House Productions. It has a nice variety of paper printed with images from around the US.

Here is a picture of the inside pages:
I just made a list in Microsoft Word of all the US and Canadian plates as well as some blank lines for notes and add-ins. (Once we saw a Guam plate!) I printed the list back to back and the used my Bind-it-All to complete the book.

Thanks for visiting today.

Calling Cards Lunch Box

A fellow Circle member, Scrapalette, decorated a cute lunch box to hold her calling cards for the Stampede. I loved it, so I had to make one for myself!

I purchased my lunchbox from JoAnn's for about 5 dollars.

I printed the background papers for both sides using my Imagine and Imagine More Cards Art Cartridge, which is one of my Cartridge Challenge Picks. The Pink spotted background I then embossed using my Circle Logo Embossing Folder.

The Phone image is from Imagine More Cards. I printed the entire image flat, and then printed an additional phone and dial layers, and then I pop dotted them for some more dimension. I printed "Jan's Calling Cards" on my computer using Sparklyfont from Font Diner.

I cut a Circle Logo at 2" in Bazzil Bling paper and adhered it over one of the embossed images.

For the other side I also used Imagine More Cards for the Background paper.

I used the Imagine More Art Cartridge to cut the Cow, and his head layers. I printed him on Bling paper to give hime some extra sparkle. It worked great! He is cut at about 4". The city scene is from Planin Schoolbook. I cut it out of Coredinations Black Glitter paper.

The top sign is a stamp I had, the Dallas and Pasture signs I printed from my computer. I just used my pinking shears for the sides of the signs.

The fantastic charms hanging from the handle were made by my friend Missie.

I just LOVE THEM! You can check out her Blog Created by Missie for more of her awesome projects.

Celebrating Creativity Monthly Challenge.

The Cricut Circle Blog's first monthly challenge is to make a project about celebrating creativity. I chose to make a 12 x12 layout using one of my favorite Creativity..."Do something Creative everyday."

This layout uses a number of cartridges. Jubilee's Runt font for the do something and everyday. Plantin Schoolbook for the creative. Storybook for the flowers, and Imagine More Cards for the butterfly. I printed the butterfly twice, and trimmed one down for the top layer. I added some tiny gems on the wings.

The Creative was printed on the Imagine. Each Letter was flood filled with a different pattern and then printed and cut. The flowers were also flood filled using Imagine patterns. The pewter charms were from a scrapbooking set I received as a gift.

All patterned paper was printed using the Imagine, both Imagine More Cards and Better Together cartridges.
