Welcome!

I have always enjoyed being crafty. I remember getting really excited about stickers and fun stationary when I was little. Well its good to know that some things in life never change!

I was introduced to scrapbooking in 2005 and have been hooked ever since. My love of crafting has branched out to include DIY, projects, gardening, baking, and canning. I hope to share my projects here.

75th Anniversary Card

Hi all,

On July 31st, my husband's Great Aunt and Uncle celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. My Mother-in Law, asked me to make them a card, because you can't find anniversary cards that go up that high in the stores. The big party was in Florida, so unfortunately we could not make it.

Here is the card I made. The pictures aren't the best, all the fabrics and papers on the card are so light that my camera had a hard time focusing.

I picked up these fabulous fabric-like paper at Hobby Lobby with a silver sparkly floral design on it.

I cut a frame from Elegant Edges in a piece of silver linen paper. I cut the 75th from Cake Basics, and Happy Anniversary was cut from Beyond Birthdays. Both were cut from Bazzil Bling paper

Here is a close up of the birds on the front:

They were cut from Tie the Knot, using DCWV shimmer paper. I cut the branch three times and the birds twice. I then layered them using pop-dots.

I finished the card off with some White Satin ribbon and Green shimmery ribbon that matched the branch.

Congratulations to Great Uncle Allen and Great Aunt Gladys! I hope you enjoyed your very special day! May we all be as blessed as you two!

Thanks for visiting today.

Have a Great and Crafty Day.

Birthday Cake Box

Here is a project for my Cartridge Challenge for this month: Tie the Knot

I made a cake box and decorated it for a friends birthday.

I cut the box base at 11.74 inches. I used my gypsy and rotated the image and used a 12 x 24 mat to get the biggest box I could. I then cut the base twice. Once in posterboard and once using DCWV Adhesive backed Pattern Carstock in 12x24. I then carefully layered the pieces together. I then cut the lid for the cake box also out of poster board. I added a pink layer on top of the white and I embossed it with the Divine Swirls Cuttlebug folder. I had to run it through my Sizzix twice to get the entire triangle embossed, and there was a line between the two embossings, but that is where I put the 30.

For the 30: I cut the Thirty at 2.23 inches from Birthday Bash. I cut each letter twice and then embossed one set with Sizzix Diamonds folder. I then took a small piece of acetate, left over from some packaging and folded it. I then adhered the 30 to the front and back of the acetate right at the fold. Now the 30 stands up.

I then cut a small slit in the pink paper and slid the bottm half of the acetate stand under the paper.

I used some organza ribbon in brown and gathered it on a thread for the frosting. I attached it to the pink paper using my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher. I then attached the entire topper on the box lid. I finished the cake off with some small roses ribbon that I have had in my stash forever.

Cartridge Challenge changes to Monthly

Howdy! I am really starting to get excited for my trip to Dallas for the Stampede! I have been in Dallas project mode for a while, and as the event nears, I have more and more things to do to get ready for that.

So...I have decided to change up my Cartridge Challenge.

I am still going to tackle the challenge of using all of my cartridges. I seem to be having trouble keeping to the one week deadline I gave myself, so I am going to start pulling a months worth of cartridges at once, and then have the entire month to do them all. I will still be attempting to use 2 a week, or 8 for an entire month.

So for the March I will be using:

Chore Chart -Lite
Accent Essentials
Tie the Knot
Rock Princess
Twinkle Toes -Lite
Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More
Imagine More Cards -Imagine
50 States -Classmate

With this new system, I think I can still challenge myself to use cartridges that are just sitting on my shelf, but allow for a little more flexibility to do other projects as well.

Now I'm off to make something!

Cartridge Challenge- Week 9

This is week 9 in my Cartridge Challenge. This weeks chosen cartridges are:

Accent Essentials:

This is one of the main cartridges that comes with the Expression machine, although some limited edition Expressions come with other cartridges. This is my go to cartridge for flower making for projects.

and

Tie the Knot:

I have only used one of the gift box cuts on this cartridge so far. I actually bought this cartridge because I thought the swirled Monograms were beautiful. Perhaps I will use that feature in this week's project.

Have a Great Day!
